Sigma invested nearly $60 million in the construction of the plant, and the state-of-the-art plant is equipped with the latest technology to ensure the hygiene and quality of the products. Employment will reach 200 by the end of the year. Ultimately, more than 400 workers will be employed when the plant reaches full production.
“We are very pleased to have built this plant, as it will allow us to reinforce our competitive position in a high growth market, such as the Hispanic one,” said Mario H. Paez Gonzalez, president of Sigma. “This investment adds to prior investments done in Mexico to expand our production capacity and market coverage, and allow us to consolidate our leadership in the markets we serve.
“The location of this plant, in a state like Oklahoma, that enjoys strategic advantages in terms of accessing raw materials, and tapping qualified personnel, permits us to better serve the market with fresher and longer shelf life products,” he added. “Furthermore, we will also achieve important savings in logistics and distribution expenses.”
Seminole Mayor Chayne Fisher said he was hopeful the company would locate in the city when he visited its operations in Mexico.
“Sigma has made a significant investment in Seminole, and our community could not be more pleased,” he pointed out.
