CLEVELAND, OH — June 8, 2005 — Is your family relocating to another metro and you need to know something about the quality of the public schools before you make your final decision on where to buy a home? Is your spouse considering positions in several different cities and you need to know how those cities compare in terms of living costs, quality of life and public schools before you decide which job to take?
If that sounds like your situation, then help has finally arrived.
Expansion Management magazine, long recognized for its award winning research studies evaluating everything from school districts to health care costs to living costs and quality of life factors, has just launched its Relocation Tool Kit Web site (www.Relocation Toolkit.com) to help families and businesses evaluate possible future locations.
“Our annual research studies focus on identifying the comparative costs of doing business in various locations throughout the U.S.,” said Gorton W. Wood, publisher of Expansion Management. “Most of those same factors that can be used to calculate business costs and risks are also valid for individual and family costs.”
The Relocation Tool Kit site offers two basic features to help families make good decisions on where to locate: the School Report and the Metro Report.
The School Report feature is based upon Expansion Management’s award winning annual Education Quotient TM study of 2,650 public school districts nationwide. Using Indianapolis as an example, our database includes rankings for 25 individual school districts located in 8 counties throughout the Indianapolis, Ind., Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).
A user will receive data on how each of these districts compares among 2,650 school districts nationwide in academic performance (i.e., college board scores and graduation rates), as well as how each compares in areas such as student-teacher ratio, per-pupil spending and teacher salaries. You will also receive comparative rankings on the relative affluence and education levels of the adult population residing within a particular school district.
The Metro Report feature provides comparative data in nearly different 50 categories that (like the School Reports) tells a user how a Metro Area compares to all other Metro Areas nationwide (i.e., results are expressed as a percentile ranking -- 99 is best, 1 is worst --- rather than as a raw number.) There are 362 MSAs in the U.S., in addition to eight in Puerto Rico.
“The Relocation Tool Kit was created in response to the numerous requests for school and living costs our editorial and research departments have received over the years,” said Wood. “Although our studies are designed for our business readers, we receive just as many, if not more, requests for information from regular families throughout the country.”
