The 520,000-square-foot facility, which more than doubles the size of the present IVC US location in Dalton, is a greenfield project being developed on a 44-acre campus off I-75, according to the company.
“This is a key strategic decision for us,” said Filip Balcaen, chairman, IVC Group. “It is a clear signal of our long-term commitment to the U.S. market and our desire for continued industry leadership.”
Once in operation, IVC US will be adding more than 100 employees, bringing total local employment to more than 150, according to the company.
“The current success of our IVC product and service model in the United States is a solid basis for future growth, which warrants the $70 million capital investment,” IVC Group CEO Jan Vergote said. “This investment will further propel IVC US to a leading position in the domestic sheet vinyl industry.”
IVC’s first American-made products are expected to roll out of the new plant in January 2011, according to the company.
“Manufacturing locally will offer tremendous advantages for our network of distributors and retailers across North America,” said Stefaan Debusschere, vice president, marketing and sales. “This investment will give our customers the availability of special-request designs, shorter time to market and larger selection of products, widths and finishes.”
