The Hershey, Pa.-based company is moving production of York Peppermint Patties and other candy brands to its new factory in Monterey, Mexico. The Rading plant also produced 5th Avenue and Zagnut candy bars, as well as Jolly Rancher hard candies. Production of those items is also moving to Mexico.
The move means the loss of 300 jobs at the Southeast Pennsylvania facility.
Two years ago, Hershey announced that the plant would close as part of a wider move to eliminate 1,500 jobs and one-third of its existing production lines, shifting more manufacturing to contractors in the United States.
