The 100,000-square-foot addition will accommodate up to 24 full-flight simulators when the expansion is completed early next year, said Bruce Whitman, president and CEO of the New York City-based company.
The Dallas/Fort Worth facility currently offers simulator-based training for pilots, maintenance technicians and other aviation professionals who operate and support aircraft built by two manufacturers, Dassault and Gulfstream Aerospace.
The company designs its facilities for specific training for aircraft of each company, and the expansion project will reflect this, Whitman said.
Once completed, the expanded facility will include dedicated customer support and service areas, pilot and maintenance training classrooms and areas for advanced training devices, including FlightSafety’s Graphical Flight deck simulators to support the training requirements of both manufacturers.
The state of Texas is investing $720,000 through the Texas Enterprise Fund in the expansion project, which will create 125 jobs and generate $116 million in capital investment.
FlightSafety chose the Texas location over sites in Kansas, Florida and Georgia. The expansion will allow for the training of an additional 5,000 students per year, generating additional travel and lodging revenues in the area.
