The food processing company has launched operations with more than 80 workers, and it plans to employ more than 200 workers by the end of 2010.
Once the facility is reconfigured, Tyler, Texas-based Loggins Culinary plans to start with uncooked, preportioned beef products and move into further processed and cooked products, according to the company.
“I have been impressed with the professionalism and genuine concern of all of Lufkin’s leadership in helping us bring this project to such a great city,” Bobby Loggins of Loggins Culinary. “We are truly proud to be a part of this community."
Armour Eckrich closed its operations in Lufkin in March. It had employed 125 workers.
“This is a success story for our entire community,” Lufkin Mayor Jack Gorden said. “Not only does it take an idled and vacant commercial facility and create new jobs, it does it with a 21st-century process that should fare well for the long run.”
Lufkin City Manager Paul Parker said, “We are pleased to have an established East Texas company with a reputation of being a stable and community-oriented business that will greatly enhance the local economy”
