The company started as a manufacturer in Abbotsford and has continually operated there for the past 39 years.
“The high Canadian dollar has overwhelmed our cost-cutting initiatives, combined with the continual inflationary pressure in the greater Vancouver area has made it increasingly difficult to operate a manufacturing company,” said James Epp, CEO of the company. “We have been experiencing increasing difficulty in offering our dealer network the competitive edge they require to be profitable with our product. This transition will allow us to reduce the cost for recreational vehicles creating an opportunity for future growth.”
The company will initially employ 30 workers in Yakima, with the intention of creating a work force of about 100 in the future.
The announcement came shortly after Western RV announced that it was indefinitely shuttering operations in Yakima, laying off more than 200 employees.
