Garver plans to move into its new headquarters by June 2009. The company, established nearly a century ago, is landlocked and unable to expand at its current headquarters location in Little Rock.
The addition of 120 new employees will bring Garver’s employment at its Central Arkansas headquarters to more than 230 workers and increase its total staff to 380 in 10 offices. This expansion represents a substantial part of Garver’s overall strategic plan to double its size during the next five years, according to the company.
Garver’s interest in growing and bringing high-paying jobs to central Arkansas is reflected in its investment in green building and site features. The building will be LEED-certified with many distinct systems and amenities, such as an on-site gym, indoor/outdoor bistro-style eating area and an open floor plan maximizing views of the surrounding landscape.
“We are excited about this project because it will be a tremendous tool in recruiting, as well as branding our company,” said Brock Johnson, president of Garver Engineers. “The investment and support of the [state] have been crucial for the success of this project. This building represents our vision for growth, and we expect it will pay big dividends for our staff and the central Arkansas economy.”
Garver Engineers offers a range of engineering services, handling projects in fields such as transportation, water, aviation, industrial, federal, development, surveys, and construction management and observation.
The Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce, North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce and North Little Rock Development Corp. worked with Garver as it searched for a location to build the new facility.
“An undeniable reality of economic development today is the paramount importance of regional cooperation,” said North Little Rock Mayor Patrick Hays. “We know Garver Engineers was solicited by other out-of-state regions. I am particularly proud and pleased that a growing knowledge-based business like Garver Engineers chose to remain in Central Arkansas and expand in North Little Rock.”
