GCS Opens Call Center in Maine

PITTSFIELD, Maine (Aug. 7) — Global Contact Services (GCS) has launched a new call center here, one of 12 U.S.-based centers calling for a particular insurance campaign. The call center employs more than 200 workers.

Greg Alcorn, GCS president and CEO of North Carolina-based GCS, said his expectations of the new site have been exceeded.

“The work ethic and dedication of the local workers was apparent from the job fair we held in January, when hundreds of people showed up in a snow storm,” he said.

Maine Quality Centers provided free, customized training at no cost to GCS through the Community College system, a pivotal part of the expansion project, said Brian Hodges of the DECD’s Office of Business Development.

“Our exemplary work ethic is one of the reasons companies like GCS choose Maine for their relocations and expansions,” said John Richardson, commissioner of the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD). “Our labor force and competitive business incentives, combined with the team work between both public and private organizations, attracted this well-respected business to Maine.”

GCS is a provider of integrated customer care, and its client base includes a number of Fortune 100 companies, including American Express, Valero Energy and Verizon.
