Southern Classic Food Group LLC, hoping to grow its business in the western U.S., will build a manufacturing facility in Ogden, Utah. The company was approved for an Industrial Assistance Fund (IAF) incentive not to exceed $300,000 for the project, which will create up to 100 jobs.
Projected wages will be at $34,453 average salary, which is 140 percent of the Weber County median. New State tax revenue is projected at $1.26 million during a 10 year-period, with a capital investment of $10.2 Million.
Brundidge, Ala.-based Southern Classic, a privately held company, manufactures dressings, mayonnaise, vinegars, sauces and syrups. The Ogden expansion will initially be in a 75,000 square foot leased facility and is needed to service a major client requiring 40 million pounds of product a year in the western U.S.
Under the incentive, the company will receive $150,000 at the startup of production at the new facility, and up to $150,000 for the creation 100 new jobs, granting $1,500 per job created.
Southern Classic must keep its operations in Utah for 10 years.
The IAF is a job-creation incentive available to companies seeking relocation and expansion of operations to the state of Utah. The IAF provides grants for the creation of jobs paying higher than prevailing wages within the community.
Grant disbursements are made on a post-performance basis after jobs have been created and retained.
Applications for assistance are reviewed and approved by the Board of Business and Economic Development.
