Eagle Steel Products, Inc., a processor and fabricator of steel products for the automotive, commercial and industrial markets, recently announced it will expand its operations in Jeffersonville, Ind., creating more than 25 new jobs by 2009.

The minority-owned company, which specializes in the cutting and packaging of coiled steel products, will invest more than $8 million to double the size of its existing 80,000 square foot located at the Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville on the Ohio River.

Eagle Steel Products’ team of more than 80 associates in Jeffersonville transform large diameter rolls of raw steel from facilities in Pennsylvania and northern Indiana into customer-defined sizes and shapes for use in the automotive, home and industrial appliance and commercial metals industries.

Earlier this year, the company added fabrication services to its waterside operations, adding the ability to construct large metal structures often delivered using Ohio River barges.

"The Ohio River with its accessibility on the Indiana side is essential to our operations," said Charles Moore, president of Eagle Steel Products. "Coupled with rail and truck services, we afford our customers the only multi-modal steel facility on the river system."

Founded in 1982, Eagle Steel Products plans to begin hiring materials handlers and supervisors in 2008.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Eagle Steel Products up to $150,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $35,000 in training grants based upon the company’s job creation plans. The City of Jeffersonville will provide the company with property tax abatement.
