Watts Regulator Co. recently announced that it will expand in Rutherford County, N.C., creating 140 jobs and investing $2.05 million during the next three years. The state supported the project with a $140,000 One North Carolina Fund grant.
Watts Regulator Co., a subsidiary of Watts Water Technologies Inc., is headquartered in North Andover, Mass., and is an international manufacturer of plumbing supplies including valves, drains, water softening and treatment systems, piping, faucets and controls. The company is expanding its Spindale facility for the production of plastic extrusions and braiding.
While wages will vary by job function, the average annual wage of the new jobs will be $27,857 plus benefits, which is higher than the Rutherford County average annual wage of $27,456 not including benefits.
“Watts has enjoyed a presence in North Carolina for many years,” said John Palotta, Watts Regulator’s vice president of operations. “The commitment to our business by virtue of these incentives demonstrates a continued partnership between our company and the local and state offices.”
The One North Carolina Fund assists the state in industry recruitment and expansion by providing financial assistance through local governments to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. One North Carolina Fund grants require and are contingent upon a local match.
