Custom watercraft designer and manufacturer Marine Builders, Inc. recently announced plans to more than double its work force in Utica, Ind., creating 93 new jobs by 2010.
The company, which specializes in designing and building custom workboats, barges, tugs, dry docks and yachts, will invest more than $1.9 million to build and equip a new 10,000 square foot addition to its southeast Indiana manufacturing facility.
Located in a protected harbor on the Ohio River northeast of Jeffersonville, Marine Builders employs a team of 42 marine engineers, welders and fabricators with more than 100 years of combined experience in the marine building industry. The company will begin hiring welders, pipe fitters, marine electricians and laborers in early 2008.

Evanczyk, president, Marine Builders, Inc. "This partnership empowers our company and employees to move ahead to be a leader in our industry and lay the foundation for future growth and expansion in Indiana."
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Marine Builders up to $390,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $95,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. The Town of Utica will provide the company with property tax abatement with the assistance of One Southern Indiana, the region’s local economic development organization.
Marine Builders offers a complete line of custom vessels including workboats, truckable workboats, barges, tugs, dry docks and excursion vessels up to 150 feet. Located on the Ohio River, the company has delivered more than 100 vessels to clients in the past 30 years.
