Performance Food Group Co. recently announced that it will open a new shared services center in Springdale, S.C. In connection with the center’s opening, Performance Food Group (PFG) will be centralizing select financial support functions, including accounts payable, general accounting, and vendor receivables.

The facility is slated to be open in the first half of 2008 and will bring approximately 100 jobs to the area when fully functional.

“We evaluated several potential locations before selecting the Columbia area. This site best met our business needs, including workforce availability and the ability to support our future growth,” said Keith Middleton, senior vice president and controller for Performance Food Group. “In particular, the readySC program will significantly enhance our work force readiness and training needs. We look forward to being a part of the Columbia area community.”

Performance Food Group, one of the nation’s largest foodservice distribution companies, markets and distributes more than 68,000 national and private label food and food related products to approximately 41,000 restaurants, hotels, cafeterias, schools, healthcare facilities and other institutions. The company is headquartered in Richmond, Va., and has operations throughout the U.S., including a customized distribution facility in Rock Hill, S.C.
