backaldrin International GmbH, a leading European manufacturer of premium bread mixes and dough improvers, recently announced the establishment of its U.S.-based subsidiary, backaldrin of American LLC, to be located in Hanover County, just north of Richmond, Va.
Initially, backaldrin of America LLC will handle the sales and marketing function, customer support and logistics services for backaldrin International GmbH for the North American market. The mid-term objective is to provide extended research and development as well as training capabilities.
“The strategic decision to expand backaldrin into North America supports our vision of being a truly global player,” said Peter Augendopler, owner and president of backaldrin Holding AG. “North America accounts for a major share in the grain based foods industry. It is therefore vital for us to have a direct presence in such a key market.”
Bernhard Barta will serve as President and CEO of backaldrin of America LLC. Barta comes with an outstanding General Management and Sales & Marketing background, having managed companies in Europe and in the United States of America.
The new facility is located at 10522 Northlake Park Drive, Ashland, Va. The 10,400 square foot facility will house a test and training kitchen and serve as a sales and distribution center for U.S. operations.
