Benco Dental has announced an expansion of its Midwest distribution center in Fort Wayne. Headquartered in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Benco Dental is a leading distributor of dental equipment and supplies. The company established its Fort Wayne distribution center in the Centennial One Building at 3424 Centennial Drive in 2003.
The company currently leases 60,800 sq. ft. of the building and will occupy an additional 24,000 square feet of the 108,800 square foot building with this expansion. Benco Dental will invest $761,874 in building modifications and distribution and IT equipment. The company currently employs 33 and will add seven jobs as a result of the expansion.
“We selected Fort Wayne as the location for our Midwest distribution center because we appreciated the community’s pro-business attitude and its proximity to contract service providers important to our business,” said Lou Mangino, Benco Dental’s vice president of operations. “The technologically advanced equipment that we are installing, in addition to other changes to our distribution system, will enable us to compete more effectively and competitively in our industry.”
The City of Fort Wayne and the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance are working to provide economic incentives to help Benco Dental maximize its expansion project here. Fort Wayne Common Council will consider tax abatement worth $19,092 over five years on the company’s investment of approximately $522,508 in distribution, logistics and IT equipment associated with the expansion.
Benco Dental was founded in 1930 and is the nation's fastest-growing dental distributor, selling supplies, equipment, and consulting services. The company is headquartered in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and serves over 20,000 dental practices and laboratories in 31 states.
