Lauth, one of the nation’s leading developers and contractors, recently announced it has closed on the land for one of area’s largest distribution parks.

Westpoint Business Park will feature 10 Class-A distribution buildings, totaling over 7.1 million square feet. Westpoint will be strategically located on 555 acres in the Plainfield, Ind., submarket at I-70 and State Road 39. It offers easy access to the I-70 and I-65 distribution corridors and the Indianapolis International Airport.

“Westpoint offers a great location and tremendous financial benefits to potential tenants,” says Tag Birge, Regional Director of Midwest Development at Lauth. “The low tax rate of the local community makes Westpoint more affordable than many other new bulk distribution centers in the area.”

The park allows for significant flexibility. Buildings will range in size from 500,000 square feet up to 1.4 million square feet. Westpoint will rank as one of the state’s largest industrial parks and it will enhance Central Indiana’s position as one of the nation’s leading distribution hubs.

Construction of the park infrastructure will commence immediately. Construction on the first building will begin next spring. Westpoint One will be a 520,000 square feet cross docked facility that features 32 foot clear height, 48-dock doors, on-site trailer parking, and expansion capabilities. The first building will be available for occupancy in the 3rd quarter of 2008.

Westpoint Business Park marks the latest announcement by Lauth. Last week the company leased a 423,000 square feet distribution center outside of Charlotte, N.C., to Ross Dress for Less.

Lauth welcomed software developer Angel Learning to INTECH Park in Indianapolis and began pouring the foundation for NASCAR Plaza, a 20-story office tower in downtown Charlotte last month.

Earlier this summer, the company topped-off the Clarian Health Education and Resource Center in downtown Indianapolis and completed a lease with Ulta Cosmetics for a distribution center in Phoenix.
