Nestle Waters North America recently announced that it will locate its new Nestle Pure Life brand water bottling operation in Greenwood, Ind., just outside Indianapolis, creating more than 60 new jobs.

The company will invest more than $30 million to equip its new 215,000 square foot high-speed bottling facility that when operational in 2008 will produce up to one million bottles of Nestle Pure Life and Nestle Pure Life Naturally Favored Water daily.

Located at 900 Commerce Parkway West Drive, the new facility will use water from the Indiana American Water Company to supply its two production lines. Water will undergo a multi-step purification process and will blend with minerals before bottling.

"Greenwood is the right place for Nestle Waters and our newest Pure Life plant,” said Nestle Waters Communications Director Jane Lazgin. “The city is served by an excellent and plentiful supply of ground water and is well located for reaching major transportation routes accessing our key Midwest markets. This, along with its excellent and technically skilled workforce makes Greenwood a natural choice for us to grow and meet our long term objectives.”

The Nestle Pure Life brand products are the company’s fastest growing in an industry that grew 7.5 percent in revenue in 2004, Lazgin said.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered the company $350,000 in performance based tax credits, and $18,500 in training grants based on the company’s announced job creation plans. Johnson County Development Corporation approved property tax abatement worth $768,000.

Nestle’s decision to locate the new water bottling facility in Indiana is the third major investment by Nestle in Indiana since July 2006. In June, Nestle announced it would invest more than $30 million in its Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream production facility in Fort Wayne, creating 68 new jobs. In July 2006, Nestle announced its plans to build a combined production and distribution facility in Anderson for its Nestle Nesquick Ready-to-Drink and Nestle Coffee-Mate products. That project is expected to create 300 new jobs.
