S&D Products recently announced plans to substantially expand its operations with a relocation from Bensenville, Ill., to Brewster Creek in Bartlett, Ill. McCaffrey3 has been retained to complete the design, engineering and construction of the new S&D Products facility.
In relocating to Brewster Creek, S&D Products has acquired a 9-acre site and will build a 122,000 square-foot facility. This represents a 50 percent expansion from the 70,000 square foot facility it currently occupies in Bensenville.
S&D Products is a specialty manufacturer producing hinges and other hardware. The company is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
The new building for S&D Products has been designed to have 10,650 square feet of office space and approximately 111,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehousing space. The building has been designed with 14,000 square feet of second floor office space for future expansion considerations.
According to Brian McCaffrey of McCaffrey3, site work has begun.
“This relocation, to a facility it is building for its own use, represents a great opportunity for S&D products to create a state of the art facility and design a variety of efficiencies while also expanding its facilities,” McCaffrey said. “It’s not just about getting a bigger facility, but also one that will be more efficient.”
Additional features of the 122,000 square foot facility include 24 foot clear ceiling heights, four interior loading docks, parking for 155 automobiles, a clear story atrium entryway, architectural precast surrounding the office space and a landscaped water feature with a fountain.
