Jazz Semiconductor, a leader in analog-intensive mixed-signal (AIMS) foundry solutions and wholly owned subsidiary of Jazz Technologies, Inc., recently announced that the term of its lease with Conexant Systems, Inc. on the building that houses Jazz’s semiconductor manufacturing facility in Newport Beach, Calif., remains in effect through at least March of 2017.
Jazz has the additional right at its sole discretion to further extend that lease for up to 10 more years until 2027. Should Conexant implement any plans to develop its land in Newport Beach, as some press reports have suggested, that development is not expected to affect the long-term future of Jazz or its Newport Beach fabrication facility.
“It is important that our stakeholders, customers and employees know that we expect our fab business in Newport Beach will continue, and any plans Conexant has for their land will not impact our manufacturing operations here,” said Gil Amelio, Jazz chairman and CEO.
Jazz executive offices, as well as its U.S. wafer fabrication facilities, are located in Newport Beach, Calif. The company also has engineering, manufacturing, and sales support in Shanghai, China.
