Malloy Electric recently announced the construction of a new state-of-the-art industrial service center at Dakota Dunes for Malloy Electric. The facility will continue Malloy’s tradition as a national leader in quality service and engineered new product sales in the electrical and mechanical power transmission industries.
The facility will allow Malloy to consolidate its two existing facilities in Sioux City and relocate its 60-plus employees to the Dakota Dunes location. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2008.
Owner Garry Jacobson said the move will provide additional opportunities for the company to continue to be a leader in the sales and servicing of industrial electrical and mechanical equipment and controls.
“This new service center will house the most up-to-date repair and testing equipment, along with Malloy’s expert technical and service personnel,” said Jacobson. “We are excited about these expansion plans and look forward to better serving our existing customers, and adding new customers in the future.”
The new 75,000 square foot facility will be located on 11 acres along Interstate 29, near the Exit 1 ramp. The state-of-the-art service center will house Malloy’s inside technical support, outside sales, motor repair center for motors through 8,000 horsepower, machine shop, electronic service department, engineering services, general offices, and include a large warehouse.
The company is working closely with the state to identify financial resources, including the state’s Revolving Economic Development Initiative (REDI) Fund and Workforce Development Program.
Malloy Electric offers a full range of sales and services including motor and generator repair, motor and generator rewinding, complete machine shop services, dynamic balancing, UL508 panel department, industrial electronic equipment and repair, and technical services (vibration analysis, laser alignment, thermography, ultrasound and circuit breaker testing). Malloy also stocks one of the largest inventories of motors, gearboxes, and control and power transmission products in the upper Midwest.
Malloy Electric & Bearing Supply was started in 1945 by Emmett and Mary Malloy in downtown Sioux Falls. In March 1971, Garry and Dianne Jacobson purchased the business and continued to expand operations through the next few years. A branch facility was opened in Sioux City in February 1986.
In 2001, Malloy acquired Thorpe Electric in Sioux City and added that company’s operations to the family of Malloy facilities.
