GEA PHE Systems North America Inc. recently held a grand opening of the company’s new manufacturing and administration facility in York, Pa.

In February 2007, Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell announced a state investment offer of nearly $1.1 million to help GEA Group merge two subsidiaries, including York-based GEA FlatPlate Inc., and locate the resulting new business venture in a facility to be constructed in the Orchard Business Park. As part of its agreement with the state, the company committed to creating at least 200 new jobs over a five-year period.

The company also is eligible for a $5 million loan through the Citizens Job Bank program, which offers low-interest loans to companies that commit to creating or expanding jobs in Pennsylvania.

GEA’s new facility consists of 162,500 square feet of manufacturing space and 35,000 square feet of office space. The facility will produce a new brazed plate heat exchanger line. The products are expected to open up new applications throughout the industry, particularly in heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

GEA’s $20 million project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team, which works with domestic and international businesses and professional site consultants on projects possessing significant investment, job creation and/or retention opportunities.

Parent company GEA Group is one of the world’s market leaders in process technologies. The company is headquartered in Germany and is a globally successful technology group with operating companies in 50 countries. The company has approximate sales of $ 6 billion worldwide and more than 17,500 employees.
