Herr Foods to Expand Manufacturing Facility in Nottingham, Pennsylvania

NOTTINGHAM, Pa. (June 11, 2007) — The company is eligible to apply for a loan of up to $5 million through the First Industries Fund, a grant of up to $75,000 through the Opportunity Grant Program, up to $28,800 in Customized Job Training funds and up to $128,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits.

Herr Foods Inc. recently announced a $15 million expansion of its existing manufacturing operation in Chester County, Pa. The company will also create 64 new jobs within three years and retain 470 current positions at its Nottingham facility.

Herr Foods is expanding its production capacity by building a 70,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at its existing location in Nottingham. The new plant will provide the company with space to produce cheese curls and other new snack products.

“Herr Foods is excited about the opportunities this new plant will provide and appreciates the support we have received for the project,” said James M. Herr, chairman and CEO of Herr Foods. “We are proud of our 61-year history as a Pennsylvania company and look forward to continuing to be a part of the commonwealth’s vitality.”

The company’s $15 million project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team. The Chester County Economic Development Council worked with GAT and Herr Foods to help the company secure a funding offer of more than $5.2 million from the Department of Community and Economic Development.

The company is eligible to apply for a loan of up to $5 million through the First Industries Fund, a grant of up to $75,000 through the Opportunity Grant Program, up to $28,800 in Customized Job Training funds and up to $128,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits.

Headquartered in Nottingham, Herr Foods is a family-owned and –operated company with 1,500 employees who manufacture and distribute more than 350 snack products throughout the northeast United States. More than 75 percent of the company’s snack products are manufactured at its Nottingham facilities.
