Georgia Gulf Corp. has completed a 250,000 square foot expansion to Royal Group’s building and home improvement manufacturing plant in Bristol, Tenn., which will enable greater penetration of the growing Southeastern marketplace. The plant expansion brings the total extrusion manufacturing footprint in Bristol to 400,000 square feet.
The Bristol facility will continue to produce Royal Mouldings’ extensive line of cellular PVC decorative trim products and Royal Trim Boards, as well as commence production of rigid PVC window and door profiles. Production is scheduled to commence in the expanded portion of the facility within the next month.
The Bristol facility was designed to accommodate the leading-edge PVC compound and extrusion technology, which Georgia Gulf and Royal Group management have worked together to develop. It is located in close proximity to Georgia Gulf’s PVC resin and compound facilities situated in the Southeast, thereby facilitating on-going efficient technology exchange. Georgia Gulf acquired Royal Group in October of 2006.
“It is strategically located to serve our expanding customer base in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and South-Central segments of the U.S. marketplace,” said Ed Schmitt, chairman, president and CEO of Georgia Gulf. “We now have the plant, the products and the people we need to participate in the growing market for durable, low-maintenance PVC building and home improvement products in the Southern U.S.”
