Michigan economic development officials recently announced that a $120,000 Economic Development Job Training grant has been awarded to support skills upgrading for 115 current employees and five new hires at Hi-Lex Controls’ Research and Development Center in Rochester Hills, Mich. The grant is being made available by the Michigan Economic Development Corp.
The company has chosen Oakland Community College to conduct cutting-edge training in advanced manufacturing applications.
Hi-Lex Controls was founded in 1989. The U.S. parent, TSK of America, is owned by Hi-Lex Corp., a global company based in Takarazuka City, Japan. In addition to Rochester Hills, Hi-Lex has facilities at Battle Creek, Hudson and Litchfield.
Since 1994, nearly $340 million in EDJT grants has helped more than 610,000 Michigan workers improve their skills and enhance the competitiveness of their employers.
