Uncle Wally’s, a gourmet and wholesale muffin company, has completed a 16,000 square foot expansion of the company’s manufacturing operations, part of a $3 million investment in the Shirley, N.Y., facility in Suffolk County. Additionally, Uncle Wally’s expects to install a new production line and increase freezer space as part of its investment.
Uncle Wally’s produces a broad selection of gourmet and home-style muffins, which are sold in more than 3,500 stores nationwide. The completed 16,000 square foot expansion, the additional freezer space and the installation of Uncle Wally’s new production line will help the company increase annual sales by enhancing production output, reducing costs. The project is estimated to cost $3 million, and Uncle Wally’s expects to add 30 new jobs to their existing full-time work force of 120 within two years.
In recognition of its investment in New York, Empire State Development and Uncle Wally’s have agreed to a series of project milestones, through which the company will be eligible to apply for up to $250,000 in funds for the expansion, under the Manufacturing Assistance Program (MAP). Under the agreement, the funding will be phased over two years, and Uncle Wally’s will receive the full amount upon reaching project targets set by Empire State Development.
