The city of West Salem, Wis., will receive a $150,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant-Public Facilities and Economic Development (CDBG-PFED) program from the Wisconsin Department of Commerce. The money will be used to construct a 50,000 square foot facility. The River Steel Inc. facility project will produce 34 new jobs.
River Steel, founded in 1954, is a family-run metal manufacturing business. It is a full-service steel fabricator and manufacturer supplying original equipment manufacturing components, structural fabrication, and other custom manufactured orders for fabricators, manufacturers, and suppliers. The total cost of the project is $5,669,141.
CDBG-PFED grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community buildings, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtowns.
