James Marine recently announced the expansion of Jamesbuilt Specialty Vessel Construction, LLC at James Marine’s headquarters in Paducah, Ky.
The company currently employs over 650 and their services include tug service, barge fleeting, barge blasting and painting, wheel shop, machine shop, fabrication shop, electric shop, new construction, towing on the Tennessee River, and barge and boat repairs. Recently, the company constructed a new drydock in the yard and purchased another, bringing the company’s total number of drydocks to 13.
James Marine will invest in excess of $2 million for this new operation, which will manufacture specialty marine vessels, including tug and towboats. The company also plans to construct another drydock and a launching ways at their current facility to support this operation. James Marine will add over 45 new jobs at an average wage of $13-15 plus benefits.
"This project was sited in McCracken County because of the local community’s persistence in resolving cost issues associated with expanding sewer access for this project,” said Ronnie James, president and CEO of James Marine. “The resolution of this issue will allow James Marine to continue its proud history of growth in McCracken County.”
