Pacific Cheese, a Washoe County-based manufacturer and distributor of packaged cheese products, recently expanded its Nevada operation and received a $23,870 Train Employees Now (TEN) grant from the Nevada Commission on Economic Development to train 24 employees.

TEN grants are designed to help companies achieve productivity quickly in the state. Companies applying for TEN grants must supply funding for a portion of the training, which is coordinated through a community college in the state.

To be considered for a grant, applicant companies must pay wages that exceed 80 percent of the statewide or county average annual hourly wage and they must provide health insurance with options for dependent coverage.
