Pactiv Corp. to Expand Canandaigua, New York Facility

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (March 14, 2007) — Pactiv is eligible to apply for a package of incentives that includes an $850,000 Capital Grant from Empire State Development, a $750,000 loan/grant from the New York State Office for Small Cities, a $400,000 grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, up to $420,000 in grant assistance from Rochester Gas &Electric.

Pactiv Corp., a leading producer of name-brand consumer products and packaging for the foodservice and food packaging industries, will invest more than $73 million to expand its manufacturing plant in Canandaigua, N.Y. With its expansion, the company plans to add at least 220 new jobs.

Pactiv, headquartered in Lake Forest, Ill., produces specialty-packaging products for the consumer and foodservice/food packaging markets. Its consumer products include Hefty trash bags, slider food storage and freezer bags, disposable tableware, and disposable cookware. The company’s foodservice/food packaging product line includes many kinds of plastic containers, clamshells, and trays; packer/processor packaging; “ovenable” paperboard; aluminum; molded fiber; and other products used by the supermarket, institutional, foodservice and restaurant industries.

In consideration of its commitment to New York State and to offset a portion of the costs associated with the expansion, Pactiv is eligible to apply for a package of incentives that includes an $850,000 Capital Grant from Empire State Development, a $750,000 loan/grant from the New York State Office for Small Cities, a $400,000 grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), up to $420,000 in grant assistance from RG&E, and sales tax abatements from the Ontario County Industrial Development Agency.

The company is also eligible for training assistance from Ontario County and the Finger Lakes WIRED initiative.
