Delta Dental of Indiana, a member of the nation’s largest dental benefits system, recently announced that it will open a new customer service center in Greenwood, Ind., in March. The new center, which will service customers enrolled in a new segment of Delta Dental’s business, will initially employ nine people.
“Delta Dental has been doing business in Indiana for more than two decades, so it was a natural for us to expand our operation in the state,” said Dr. Thomas J. Fleszar, president and CEO of Delta Dental. “Our decision to open a new customer service center in Greenwood was made all that much easier by the business-friendly environment created for insurers by Governor Daniels, Commissioner Atterholt and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.”
Indiana consistently ranks as one of the top states for doing business as an insurance provider. The Property and Casualty Insurance Association of America has named Indiana to its list of top states of commercial lines, and industry leaders have called Indiana’s insurance training grant program, known as INSPIRE, the most comprehensive training program in the nation.
Launched in July 2006, INSPIRE reimburses employers for half of employee training costs for industry designations, such as underwriter and actuary. The program goal is to create an educated, capable workforce ready to meet the needs of Indiana’s growing insurance industry, said Mike Chrysler, the Indiana Economic Development Corp.’s director of insurance initiatives.
In addition to its new Greenwood facility, Delta Dental has offices in Indianapolis; Okemos, Farmington Hills, and Grand Rapids, Mich.; Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio; and, Nashville, Knoxville, and Memphis, Tenn.
