Ground-breaking when it was launched in 1993, Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship program remains the nation’s best example of a state initiative to ensure an educated and talented workforce. It is also the largest state scholarship and grant program of its kind.

HOPEHelping Outstanding Pupils Educationally – rewards students’ hard work with financial assistance in degree, diploma, or certificate programs at colleges, universities, and technical institutes in Georgia.

Students with a 3.0 grade point average who are seeking postsecondary education at Georgia’s colleges or universities are eligible for the scholarship. At public colleges, the HOPE Scholarship provides full tuition, fees such as health and student activity fees, and $300 per semester for books. Students enrolling in one of Georgia’s private colleges may be eligible for a $3,000 annual scholarship for tuition and mandatory fees. Students must maintain a 3.0 grade point average to keep the scholarship.

All Georgia residents are eligible for the HOPE Grant that provides tuition for degree and non-degree programs of study approved by the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education.

Funded entirely by the Georgia Lottery – not increased taxes – the HOPE program has awarded more than $3 billion in scholarships to more than 900,000 students since its inception.
