Harger Lightning and Grounding will open a manufacturing facility in Robeson County, N.C., creating 43 jobs and investing $5 million during the next three years. The state will support the project with a $64,500 One North Carolina Fund grant.

The company, based in Grayslake, Ill., manufactures lightning protection and grounding equipment for the communications and electrical industries. It will open a metal working and assembly plant in Fairmont. While wages will vary by job function, the average weekly wage of the new jobs will be $600 plus benefits. The average weekly wage in Robeson County is $438 not including benefits.

"We selected the state of North Carolina based on its business-friendly environment and an abundance of good hard-working people," said Mark S. Harger, president of Harger Lightning and Grounding.

The One North Carolina Fund assists the state in industry recruitment and expansion by providing financial assistance through local governments to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. One North Carolina Fund grants require and are contingent upon a local match.
