PepsiCo recently announced that it will locate a new distribution center in Luzerne County, Pa., bringing with it at least 93 new jobs within three years, Governor Edward G. Rendell announced today.
Six other states competed with Pennsylvania for the $36 million project.
The Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce supported efforts to obtain a $1.25 million funding offer for the project from state economic development officials that includes a grant of up to $1 million through the Infrastructure Development Program and a grant of up to $250,000 through the Opportunity Grant Program.
The $37.25 million expansion project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team (GAT), which is comprised of economic development professionals who report directly to Governor Rendell and serve as a single point-of-contact for businesses looking to locate or expand in Pennsylvania. The team works with domestic and international businesses and professional site consultants on projects possessing significant investment and job creation opportunities.
