EDi Medical recently held the grand opening of its 10,000 square-foot surgical products service facility in Fountain Run, Ky., which opened in fall 2006 with a dozen employees and is expected to grow up to 60 employees as the project expands.
The new operation will assemble custom sterile surgical packs for hospitals and related customers in the health care industry. Its advanced system allows customers to track and monitor surgical kit orders via its web-based customer service portal.
"EDi Medical is very pleased to have chosen Kentucky to open our custom sterile surgical packaging company and appreciate the support from the Economic Development Cabinet, which was the determining factor in our decision to locate here," said Kurt Tarter, President of EDi Medical. "We have been delighted with the quality of the labor force and are eager to expand from a dozen positions to multiple dozens as our business continues to grow."
The custom sterile surgical pack business is a $4 billion industry within the healthcare field and EDi Medical is well positioned to pursue and secure multi-millions in revenue.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved EDi Medical for tax benefits up to $636,750 under the Kentucky Jobs Development Act, an incentive program designed to attract and expand technology- and service-related industries in the state.
