Healthways to Expand Call Center in Cary, North Carolina

Healthways Inc., providers of Health and Care Support, will expand its call center in Wake County,N.C., creating 109 jobs and investing approximately $2 million over the next three years. The state will support the project with a $40,000 One North Carolina Fund grant.

Healthways Inc., headquartered in Nashville, Tenn., works with health insurance companies, employers and governments to provide medical advice and information to individuals to help them stay healthy and reduce healthcare costs. The company currently employs 132 workers at its Health and Care Support call center in Cary.

While wages will vary by job function, the average weekly wage of the new jobs will be $1,250 plus benefits, which is higher than the Wake County average weekly wage of $752 not including benefits.

"This area has been a great fit for Healthways, offering the kind of skilled and empathetic nurse and professional workforce that our work demands," said Nick Balog, senior vice president of operations for Healthways. "As a company focused on improving quality of life for the members in our programs, Healthways also is focused on locating our offices in areas that offer our employees a high quality of life, which Wake County certainly does."

The One North Carolina Fund assists the state in industry recruitment and expansion by providing financial assistance through local governments to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. One North Carolina Fund grants require and are contingent upon a local match.
