ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, recently announced that it has opened a dedicated Control Systems and Products Regional Action Center (RAC) in Singapore to serve its customers in the rapidly growing Asian market. The RAC will provide technical and training support for automation customers, as well as include regional sales support, marketing, and business development functions.
“This initiative in Asia - the fastest growing market, for Process Automation Control Systems and Products intensifies ABB’s growth strategy as a global leader in Process Automation, “ said James Foo, president and country manager of ABB Singapore. “This ensures that a complete ABB control product portfolio is coherently positioned to customers and business partners in the region.”
The Singapore Regional Action Center will provide technical, training, and sales support for control systems and products throughout the Asia region. These products include ABB’s wide range of control system solutions, including System 800xA Extended Automation, as well as individual control system components such as control hardware and software, I/O and related control system software applications.
ABB Singapore has also opened two other Centers: a Center of Excellence (CoE) for its Pulp and Paper business in 2005, and a Center of Competence (CoC) for its Marine business unit in 2006.
The CoE for ABB Pulp and Paper is responsible for developing and marketing Open Control System (OCS) application for the pulp and paper industry globally. It builds on the expertise and technology know-how that ABB in Singapore has acquired over the past 15 years with customers in the Asia Pacific region. This coupled with cost efficiency were key reasons for the decision to designate Singapore as the CoE for this business on a global basis.
The CoC for ABB Marine is responsible for drilling drives application for the offshore drilling rig construction industry. Such services include marketing, sales, project execution, commissioning and after sales support on a global scale.
