After 56 years, Lillian Vernon’s headquarters has relocated from New York to Virginia Beach, Va. Lillian Vernon is a leading American catalog merchant and online retailer that sells household, organizational, children’s and fashion accessory products.

Originally founded in Ms. Vernon’s kitchen in 1951 with $2,000 in wedding gift money, the company has grown over the years to become a leading national catalog and online retailer.

The company moved its corporate headquarters from White Plains, N.Y., to consolidate operations with its national distribution center in Virginia Beach. The facility, at 2600 International Parkway, sits on 62 acres and encompasses 827,000 square feet, the size of 18 football fields.

“The move is one method to increase efficiency,” says Michael Muoio, president and CEO. “It makes good economic sense to combine our corporate functions, and Virginia Beach is an ideal location for our distribution center. The move also signals an approach to streamline company operations coinciding with new ownership by Sun Capital Partners.”

As part of the move, 55 employees were either moved from the previous corporate headquarters or were hired to fill positions in Virginia Beach.
