Capital Lighting and Supply, Inc., a provider of electrical products and lighting in the Mid-Atlantic States, will build a new headquarters and central distribution center in Forestville, Md., in Prince George’s County. The project is expected to create approximately 135 jobs within the next year.
The company plans to construct a 200,000 square foot facility to be located in the Eastgate Business Park near the interchange of Pennsylvania Avenue and I-495, in close proximity to Andrews Air Force Base. Construction is expected to begin in late fall of 2006 with planned service expected for mid-2007.
This relocation of the company’s headquarters and central distribution facility, currently located in Alexandria, Va., and Newington, Va. respectively, will result in an increase of approximately 45 jobs, in addition to the 95 distribution positions and 42 headquarters positions to be relocated from Virginia.
Capital Lighting currently operates five branches throughout Maryland, and expects to add six to eight additional branches within the next five years.
“We are extremely pleased to be able to relocate our headquarters and CDC facility in Prince George’s County,” said John Hardy, CEO, Capital Lighting and Supply, Inc. “The economic expansion that is taking place in the county creates an excellent climate for our long term goals and growth. We appreciate the support Maryland and Prince George’s County have provided us so far and look forward to the continued support as we relocate employees and add to our work force.”
The Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development will provide a $200,000 conditional loan through the State’s Maryland Economic Development Assistance Fund, up to $65,000 in work force training from the Maryland Industrial Training Program and job creation tax credits.
Prince George’s County also is providing a $20,000 conditional loan for the County’s Incentive Leverage Fund.
