Federal-Mogul Corp. to Increase Automotive Production Operation in Southwestern Virginia

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (January 8, 2007) — The state of Virginia approved $150,000 from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to assist Montgomery County with the project.

Federal-Mogul Corp., a global automotive supplier, will place assets in value of $12.7 million and create up to 71 new jobs as it increases production at its facility in Montgomery County, Va. Federal-Mogul’s Virginia facility produces high volume anti-friction engine and replacement bearings made from a unique bonding process of steel and aluminum.

Federal-Mogul employs more than 45,000 people at 130 manufacturing locations worldwide. The company produces automotive components, systems, and modules for leading automakers and aftermarket customers. Primary products include engine components, sealing systems, brakes, chassis, wipers, fuel pumps and ignition products.

“At all levels, from the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development, to the Virginia Department of Business Assistance, and on, the State of Virginia has been professional, capable and business-friendly,” said Jim Keaney, Plant Manager. “We are truly thankful for their efforts in support of our continued future in southwest Virginia, and increased competitiveness in this global economy.”

The state of Virginia approved $150,000 from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to assist Montgomery County with the project. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide training and retraining assistance through its Workforce Services Jobs Investment Program.
