Lodging by Liberty, a furnishings and accessories company, will expand its operations to High Point, N.C., creating 53 jobs and investing $2.5 million during the next three years. The state of North Carolina has approved a $135,000 One North Carolina Fund grant.
Lodging by Liberty, a subsidiary of Brown Jordan International, is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of furnishings and accessories for residential and commercial customers. It will gradually transition its current 158 employees in Liberty to the High Point facility and add 53 positions there. The project will streamline the company's manufacturing and administrative functions.
While wages will vary by job function, the average weekly wage of the new jobs will be $1,231 plus benefits, which is higher than the Guilford County average weekly wage of $659 not including benefits.
"We are pleased to establish our divisional headquarters in High Point, the 'Home Furnishings Capital of the World'," said Paul C. Koehneke, vice president for Brown Jordan International. "North Carolina and the city of High Point offer the skilled workforce we require and a host of nearby allied industries."
The One North Carolina Fund assists the state in industry recruitment and expansion by providing financial assistance through local governments to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. One North Carolina Fund grants require and are contingent upon a local match. Through the use of this Fund, more than 20,000 jobs and $3 billion in investment have been created since 2001.
