Bharat Aluminum Co. (Balco) will invest 50 million rupees ($1.1 billion) to build a 1,200 megawatt-capacity, coal-based power plant here.
The company signed an agreement with the state of Chhattisgarh government and the Chhattisgarh Electricity Board.
BALCO is part of Vedanta Resources, a London based metals and mining company, with aluminum, copper and zinc operations in the UK, India and Australia.
