Hitachi’s Air Technology Group will establish a U.S. hub and training center in Charlotte, N.C. Hitachi recently leased 25,000 square feet at 5808 Long Creek Drive in Long Creek Business Park and expects to hire 15 employees following start-up in January 2007. The Charlotte facility will serve as the U.S. sales, distribution and OEM and distributor training center for Hitachi’s line of oil-free rotary screw compressors and related products, which have applications in the medical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical and electronics industries.

Ted Lee of Spectrum Properties represented Hitachi in the lease transaction, and Reid Dunbar represented building owner ProLogis. The Charlotte Chamber and the North Carolina Department of Commerce assisted Hitachi over the past year as the company made plans for the Charlotte facility.

Hitachi Air Technology is part of Hitachi America’s Industrial Systems Division. The parent company is Hitachi Ltd., Tokyo, a leading electronics manufacturer with $80.9 billion in consolidated sales and over 356,000 employees worldwide.
