To provide a European source of supply for its line of “xtreme” Lexan polycarbonate resins while boosting overall capacity by about 300 percent, GE Plastics will expand its production of these products to its Lexan Resin facility in Bergen op Zoom, The Netherlands.
The company will invest 62 million euro in the facility.
The expansion beyond the United States will give European customers the advantage of shorter delivery times and broader availability of materials, according to the company.
“We’re making a major capital investment to support expected growth of our Lexan resin specials at many of our European customers and worldwide,” said Heiner Markhoff, vice president of GE Plastics Europe. “By adding significant production capacity in the Netherlands, we aim to expedite delivery to European customers so they can accelerate time to market.”
Applications for Lexan resins include mobile phones, electrical enclosures, automotive components, personal safety equipment, marine components and industrial lighting.
