The health care industry is a fast growing segment in Fairfield, Calif., a San Francisco Bay area city located mid-way between San Francisco and Sacramento. Three major healthcare organizations — Sutter Hospital, NorthBay Healthcare and Kaiser Permanente — all have plans to expand their presence in the city.
Sutter Regional Medical Foundation is building a 69,250 square foot medical building in Busch Corporate Park on an 11-acre parcel next to its existing medical facility. The new building will house the offices for 60 physicians and administration offices for the Foundation.
This will complement the services offered at the existing medical center, which is home to the state-of-the-art outpatient Sutter Surgery Center and the Diagnostic Imaging Center. Sutter’s existing medical center also includes specialty care physicians, surgery, neurology, ENT and physical therapy.
NorthBay Healthcare, which currently operates a 132-bed hospital, a cancer center, occupational health center, primary care clinic and Center for Pain Management in Fairfield, has a multi-phase expansion plan.
First on the drawing board is the NorthBay Office Center, a medical campus on a 20 acre parcel in Green Valley Corporate Park, which will be home to the organization’s corporate, non-clinical operations such as finance, marketing, and information systems. Future expansion plans include construction of a hospital and medical offices.
In addition, NorthBay’s future plans include opening a second primary care clinic to serve Fairfield’s west side population. The 12,000 square foot Center is slated to open in early 2007.
Kaiser Permanente also has plans to locate at Green Valley Corporate Park. It purchased a nine-acre parcel there with plans to build a 130,000 square foot medical facility. The healthcare organization plans to build in about five years, but purchased the land now to ensure its place in Fairfield.
