U. S.-based Hewlett-Packard (HP) announced that it expects to hire up to 2,000 new employees as part of the company’s expansion of operations in here. The firm plans to increase the number of employees from 3,300 to about 5,000 in 2008.
The firm, which began operating in the country in 2003 with 185 employees, has inaugurated a new building located in Ultrapark Business Center.
Currently, HP is the company that generates the most employment in the services sector. The new building is an extension of the global services center that the firm has in the Forum Business Park in Santa An, Costa Rica.
At both sites, HP offers call center services and manages the needs of business processes for other firms such as payroll payments, finances, accounting process and information technologies.
For HP, Costa Rica is a strategic site for commercial and services linkage toward other regions of the world, which explains the interest of the firm in investing locally, according to the company.
