IBM, which has been operating here since 2004, invested $4 million in expanding its operations.
The expansion consists in an employee support center that will serve as the new interchange point for more than 325,000 employees of IBM clients in North America, Central America and South America.
The new infrastructure is located in a free zone of Heredia, northeast of San Jose, and will offer services to clients in four languages, Spanish, Portuguese, English and French.
This building is the second stage of IBM in Costa Rica, since it already has its headquarters in the Forum Business Park in Santa Ana.
The services IBM provides from Costa Rica includes payroll payments, benefits administration, support services to expatriates, online learning, personnel recruitment, and hiring and assistance to retirees.
Currently, IBM has 720 employees in Costa Rica, a figure that will grow to 1,200 employees next year because of the expansion.
