Carthuplas, a privately-held Belgian company, recently announced plans to start manufacturing operations in Cherokee County, investing $25 million and creating 50 new jobs. Carthuplas provides plastic injection molding packaging for the home entertainment, data media and personal electronics markets.
Carthuplas has purchased the former Phoenix textiles building in the Meadowcreek Industrial Park. With its entry into South Carolina, the company is poised to capture an even greater share of the optical media and multimedia industry business.
“Carthuplas is a major player in the CD and DVD packaging industry and expanding our US presence by locating a facility in Cherokee County will allow us to provide our customers with the qualities they desire in plastics packaging – innovative design, quality products, good pricing, dependable lead and delivery times, and excellent customer service," said Carthuplas’ CEO Peter Ciriello. “We were impressed with how the state’s business climate and quality workforce match our needs as a growing company.”
Carthuplas is a family-owned business that began in 1952 to make cardboard packaging and has transformed over the years to be one of the world’s leading manufacturers of CD and DVD packaging. The company operates plants in Belgium, Switzerland and Kennebunk, Maine.
