Vantage Foods will open a meat processing plant in Caldwell County, N.C., creating 183 jobs and investing $21.1 million over the next three years. The company is eligible for a $360,000 One North Carolina Fund grant.
Vantage Foods, headquartered in Calgary, Canada, will open a case-ready meat cutting and processing facility in Lenoir. While wages will vary by job function, the expected average weekly wage of the new jobs is $475 plus benefits. The Vantage Foods facility will open in mid-2007, with hiring to begin in early 2007.
"North Carolina was selected as the location for this state-of-the-art facility due to the state's proactive business environment in assisting businesses through their government programs and the availability of an attractive workforce," said Leonal Kilgore, president of Vantage Foods U.S.
The One North Carolina Fund assists the state in industry recruitment and expansion by providing financial assistance through local governments to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. One North Carolina Fund grants require, and are contingent upon, a local match. Through the use of this Fund, more than 19,000 jobs and $3 billion in investment have been created since 2001.
