First Advantage Corp., a global risk mitigation and business solutions provider, will locate a new facility for its Background Screening Group in Indianapolis. The facility will provide employment screening services, including criminal records checks, employment and education verifications, motor vehicle records, credit reports and many other information-driven services to help businesses make informed hiring decisions.
The new Background Screening Group operation will employ 75 people initially. First Advantage expects to hire a total of 150 workers within three years. The company will make a capital investment of nearly $1.8 million in the new 11,996 square foot facility, which it will lease from BREOF Castleton Park REO, LLC.
“First Advantage chose Indianapolis as a supplementary operational site for our Florida and New York offices to accommodate our growth and business continuity needs,” said Tim Lima, executive vice president of First Advantage’s Background Screening Group. “The pro-business environment, including local and state incentives offered to First Advantage for this expansion, coupled with incentives received last year with the expansion of our Tax Consulting Services division, provided the deciding reasons for choosing Indianapolis over other candidate cities in the nation.”
This latest announcement follows the expansion of First Advantage’s Tax Consulting Services division last year (formerly Indianapolis-based CIC Enterprises), resulting in the retention of 98 existing jobs and the expected creation of 86 new jobs. The Tax Consulting Services division is located at 9025 River Road.
Last year, First Advantage was offered an incentive package by the State of Indiana and City of Indianapolis. The city’s offer for tax abatement helped First Advantage lock in state incentives, which included $100,000 in training grants, $450,000 in Hoosier Business Investment Tax Credits and $575,000 in EDGE tax credits.
The state and city offered additional incentives for the new Background Screening Group expansion. The state offered a $50,000 training grant and $225,000 in EDGE tax credits. The City of Indianapolis has proposed a five-year tax abatement that could save the company around $36,000. All incentives are contingent on First Advantage meeting its jobs and investment goals.
